Year 6 have showcased some of their fantastic writing skills. This week they were focusing on using topic sentences, with conjunctive adverbs, to link to previous concluding sentences.
Conjunctive adverbs are cohesive words or groups of words that connect one sentence to another. They can be used for effect at the beginning of a topic sentence in a new paragraph, linking to the previous concluded sentence.
For example: Zoos are educational places, providing hands-on learning experiences to children and adults alike. Alternatively, it could be argued that the negative impact on animal welfare outweighs this educational benefit.
