This week in maths, Year 6 have been focusing on their oracy and reasoning skills while working with 6-digit numbers. The children were challenged to estimate the position of large numbers on a number line, thinking carefully about their relative sizes and distances.
Through group discussions and collaborative problem-solving, they explained their reasoning clearly, using mathematical vocabulary to justify their decisions. This activity not only improved their understanding of place value and number magnitude but also encouraged them to share ideas and listen to different perspectives.
It’s been fantastic to see Year 6 engaging so confidently and articulately with this challenging task.
