In maths this week, Year 6 took on the challenge of partitioning 10,000 using Cuisenaire rods. These colourful rods helped the children visually represent and break down large numbers, deepening their understanding of place value and how numbers are composed.
By using the rods, the pupils were able to explore different ways of partitioning 10,000 into thousands, hundreds, tens, and ones. This hands-on approach made the concept of large numbers more accessible, allowing the children to see the relationships between the different values.
