This week in Maths, Year 4 have been busy learning all about perimeter. To bring this concept to life, the children used string to help them measure the perimeter of various 2D shapes. By carefully tracing the edges of each shape with string, they were able to see exactly how perimeter works and how it represents the total distance around an object.
Once they had outlined the shapes, the children measured the length of the string against a ruler to find the perimeter in centimetres. This hands-on approach helped reinforce their understanding of measurement and allowed them to explore the concept in a fun, practical way.
