This week in maths, Year 2 have been working on their addition skills by using bead strings to add single-digit numbers to multiples of ten. This hands-on approach allowed the children to visualise each step as they counted and added beads, helping them see the numbers grow from one multiple of ten to the next.
Using bead strings made it easier for the children to understand how addition works and to build their confidence in adding single digits. The activity also reinforced their understanding of place value and gave them a fun, tactile way to practise counting skills.
