This week in maths, Year 3 worked collaboratively to create and interpret pictograms. As part of their activity, the children discussed and decided that each symbol in their pictograms would represent a value of two. This allowed them to practise representing data accurately and introduced them to the concept of using fractions, as half a symbol could represent a value of one.
Once their pictograms were labelled, the children recorded their findings, discussing the patterns and information they observed. This activity not only developed their data-handling skills but also encouraged teamwork and logical thinking.
