This week in Reception, the children enjoyed a delightful baking activity inspired by their key text, Look Up! Drawing on the story’s exciting space theme, they made their very own “moon rock cakes.”
The activity was a wonderful way to combine creativity, teamwork, and hands-on learning. The children carefully measured ingredients, mixed them together, and shaped their “moon rocks” before baking them to perfection. As they worked, they talked about the moon, space exploration, and their favourite moments from the book.
Not only did the children have fun baking, but they also strengthened their fine motor skills and built on their understanding of following instructions. The best part? Tasting their delicious creations at the end! Well done, Reception, for your out-of-this-world baking skills!
