This week, Year 6 launched their new science unit all about light with a fascinating exploration of how light helps us to see. The children began by observing their partner’s pupils in both light and dark settings, noticing how their pupils dilated in dimmer environments to let in more light.
To deepen their understanding, the class conducted an engaging experiment to explore how light travels in straight lines. Using a piece of paper with a small hole and a torch, the children observed how light moves and discussed what this means for how we see objects around us.
Our budding Year 6 scientists shared some brilliant explanations about sight, how light interacts with our eyes, and why it’s essential for vision. A fantastic start to the topic—well done, Year 6!
