This week in maths, Year 5 have been using Dienes blocks to deepen their understanding of partitioning and multiplying large two-digit numbers. By breaking numbers into tens and ones, the children explored how to simplify complex calculations and build a solid foundation for multiplication.
The hands-on use of Dienes helped them visualise the process, making abstract concepts more accessible and engaging. Through teamwork and problem-solving, the children demonstrated fantastic focus and perseverance as they tackled challenging multiplication tasks.
We’re incredibly proud of their hard work and enthusiasm—well done, Year 5, for taking on this mathematical challenge with such determination!
