This week in maths, Year 6 have been diving into the world of large numbers, learning how to represent and understand seven-digit numbers using counters and a Gattegno chart. This hands-on approach has been a fantastic way for the children to visualise place value, helping them to see how each digit plays a role in creating numbers in the millions.
Using the Gattegno chart, the children placed counters to represent each place value from millions down to units, allowing them to see how numbers are constructed and connected.
