This week, Year 1 have been learning about the brave actions of Rosa Parks and how her courage changed history forever. The children have been working hard to retell her inspiring story in their writing, focusing on how Rosa’s decision to stand up for her rights helped to fight against racial injustice and brought about important changes for Black people in America.
Through discussions and activities, the children learned how Rosa Parks’ refusal to give up her seat on a bus became a powerful symbol in the fight for civil rights. They were deeply engaged with her story and reflected on the importance of fairness, equality, and standing up for what is right.
We are so proud of Year 1 for their thoughtful writing and for showing such empathy while learning about Rosa Parks’ significant role in history.
