In their final science investigation of the term, Year 2 took on an exciting challenge—testing a variety of materials to find out which would be best for making an umbrella. The children explored different properties such as waterproofness, strength, and flexibility as they carefully compared materials like plastic, fabric, and foil.
Through hands-on testing, Year 2 worked as scientists, predicting which materials would perform best, conducting fair tests, and recording their results. They discovered the importance of choosing the right material for different purposes and had lots of fun experimenting with water to see how well each material kept things dry.
This investigation was a fantastic way for Year 2 to apply their knowledge of materials in a real-world context, encouraging curiosity and critical thinking. Well done to all the budding scientists in Year 2 for their hard work and enthusiasm!
