In geography this week, children have been using a variety of sources including maps and satellite photos to identify the key features of a river. The children know and can label the source, mouth, bed, meander, course, tributary, delta and floodplain. Year 5 also knows a river is a path that water takes as it flows downhill, normally towards another river, a lake, sea or ocean. Rivers come in many different shapes and sizes and often join together to make larger rivers.
