PTA meeting
The PTA will be holding our first AGM meeting on the 12th of July.
We are seeking parents, carers, and staff who may be interested in running for one of the elected positions. These roles can be shared, allowing you to split the time and responsibilities with someone else.
Please see the link below for more information on the roles available.
We cannot run the PTA without your support.
If you could offer your time in any way to help us raise money for our children it would be greatly appreciated.

Oracy Ambassadors
We have a new role at Morningside this year, called the Oracy Ambassadors. They will be focussing on creating a culture of talk within our school: this might look like showing children how to share their ideas respectfully with their peers, articulating their thoughts in an RE or PSHE lesson, explaining how they reached an answer in a maths lesson or greeting people in a positive way. Over the following weeks, our Oracy Ambassadors will be focussing on manners, and will be awarding the class that is best at this with an award in the final Star of the Week assembly of the year.
Play at Morningside
We have had a wonderful week in our playground, being creative, exploring and most importantly having fun. It has been wonderful to see the joy on the children’s faces playing in the sunshine.
We are always looking for donations for our playground. We appreciate the donation of toys but we are are mainly looking for:
– cardboard boxes
– crates
– unwanted buggies (any condition as long as they are clean- we will check for safety)
– unwanted car seats
– pots and pans (no glass please)
– pieces of guttering/ tubes/ tunnels/ tyres
– broken suitcases or chests
-pallets
– slides, bikes, scooters
If anyone has a connection with any companies that may be able to help with regular or one off donations, please do ask on our behalf.
Any donations can be brought to the gate at the beginning or end of the day or to the office at any time. We thank you in advance.
Screen Time
On Tuesday, we had an assembly all about Screen Time. We discussed some of the benefits of screen time and why it is important to limit the amount of time you spend on a screen. We thought about how we can use devices safely, and what is an appropriate amount of time to spend on our devices a day. We then came up with a list of other activities we could do instead of being on screen. Set your children a challenge this weekend to do things other than watch a screen.
Non-uniform Day
On Friday the 5th July, come to school dressed in non uniform. In return we are asking that you bring in an item we can use as a tombola prize for the summer fête. Suggested item: biscuits, sweets, wine, candles, incense holders, chocolate etc

Transition Parent Workshops
As we come towards the end of the school year, we begin to think about what will happen next and preparing children for their next phase of education. Some children have big changes such as going to secondary school, starting reception but we recognise that any change and moving to a new class is significant for children. Over the remaining weeks of term, Magdalena from CAMHS will run transition sessions for parents and carers. These sessions will be an opportunity to find out about how to support your child with transitions and ask any questions you may have. Pia, our pastoral manager, will also be in the sessions to help with any questions. The dates and times of the sessions are:
18th June 9-9:45am
2nd July 2:45-3:30pm
16th July 9-9:45am

Outdoor Family Camping
Would you and your family like to try out camping this summer?
Worried you can’t afford to get away? Outdoor Family Camping helps Hackney families enjoy a week-long holiday in the countryside…
For the last ten years, Outdoor People have taken families from Hackney to spend a week under canvas on a working farm in Kent. These camping trips take place in August. You’ll join other families and learn how to pitch a tent, help feed the farm animals, pick fresh vegetables for dinner, toast marshmallows over an open fire and sleep under canvas.
If you’ve never been camping before but are willing to try, contact Outdoor People to find out more.
They will supply all the kit; all you need to bring is a sense of adventure!
As a social enterprise, they have a number of places available to families on very low incomes.
To apply, fill out this application form: https://forms.gle/XeGR6YTguBxd6T669

Attendance
Good school attendance is one of the main factors in determining your child’s future opportunities in life. Children who are absent from school regularly do less well in achieving their academic potential and have fewer career choices. Hackney education authority aims for all pupils to attend at least 95% of the school year. An attendance rate of 95% is generally considered good; this allows for children to miss 9.5 days across the school year. If your child’s attendance falls below 95% due to sickness, no further absences will be authorised, unless you provide medical documentation.
Classes of The Week: 5S and 2S 94%
The winning class is rewarded with a delicious fruit platter. Help your child’s class win by making sure your child is at school everyday next week.
