✨ This Week at Morningside ✨
Another school year comes to an end, and what a year it has been. It has been a year filled with fun, friendship, curiosity, creativity and countless moments to be proud of. As we reach the end of the summer term, it has been lovely to look back on everything the children have achieved and to celebrate just how much they have grown.
Over the past few weeks, it has been wonderful to welcome so many families to our End of Year Celebration Assemblies. Thank you for joining us to celebrate the children’s achievements. The confidence with which they shared their learning, performed, spoke and reflected on the year has been a real reminder of how much progress they have made since September.
We would also like to congratulate Mr Martin, Mr Robin and Ms Ellen on successfully completing their teaching apprenticeships this term. We are incredibly proud of their achievement and are delighted that they will all be joining our teaching staff in September. We know they will continue to make a fantastic contribution to the life of Morningside.
As we have reflected on the year, we have seen our school values shining through every part of school life. We have watched children show kindness and respect towards one another, approach new challenges with self-belief, deepen their understanding of the world around them and develop a genuine love of learning. These values are at the heart of everything we do, and we are incredibly proud of the young people our children are becoming.
At the end of every school year, we say goodbye to members of our school family. This year, we would like to thank Ms Ruby and Mr Oli as they move on to new schools. We are grateful for everything they have contributed to Morningside and wish them every success and happiness in the next stage of their careers.
We also say farewell to our wonderful Year 6 children and, for some families, goodbye to Morningside altogether after many years with us. It has been a privilege to watch these children grow from their earliest days in primary school into confident, thoughtful and caring young people. They leave us with the knowledge and skills they need for secondary school, but just as importantly with the values that will help them thrive wherever life takes them. We know they will embrace new opportunities with confidence, show kindness to others, work hard, keep learning and make a positive difference in their new school communities. We will miss them enormously, but we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them, and we look forward to hearing about all they go on to achieve.
It always feels a little strange writing about September while the summer holidays are only just beginning, but we are already looking forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting year. Please see the information below for the key dates and arrangements for the start of the autumn term.
Finally, thank you to all of our children, families, staff, governors and friends of the school for your continued support throughout the year. Morningside is a very special place because of the people who make up our community. We wish you all a wonderful, restful summer break and look forward to seeing you in September.

Free Swimming Lessons for Years 5 and 6
Free Swimming Lessons for Year 5 & 6 Students in Hackney in the summer holidays 2026, which will take place at Britannia Leisure Centre or London Fields Lido. Children must currently be in school year 5 or 6. They must be available to attend at least 80% of lessons in the two weeks at either Britannia Leisure Centre or London Fields Lido Lessons will be 30 minutes long and take place in the mornings. 🎵 Music Lessons at Morningside
Would your child like to learn a musical instrument?
Sing Education offers instrumental lessons during the school day for children of all abilities, from complete beginners to more experienced musicians. Lessons are available in small groups or on a one-to-one basis and are taught by specialist music teachers.
Learning an instrument can help children develop confidence, concentration, creativity and perseverance, as well as being great fun!

OPaL Playground Wishlist
As part of our OPaL (Outdoor Play and Learning) programme, we are continuing to develop our playground to give children richer, more creative and more adventurous play opportunities.
We have created an Amazon Wishlist with items that would really enhance our play offer. If you would like to support, you can do so by purchasing an item from the list and having it sent directly to school.
There is absolutely no expectation to contribute, but we are very grateful for any support. These small additions make a big difference to children’s play experiences every day.
