✨ This Week at Morningside ✨
What a fantastic week it’s been at Morningside! Our Year 6 pupils delivered a stunning performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat – there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. We had a fantastic turnout at Family Friday OPAL, where it was wonderful to see so many parents playing alongside their children and enjoying the new bikes, all made possible thanks to our PTA’s fundraising efforts. Last week’s summer fete was a great success, with the PTA raising over £1,000 and the school raising over £300 from food sales. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event. Our sharing assemblies have been a great success this term, and next week will be the final week.

What’s on in the week beginning 13th July 2026:
- Monday – In Bloom competition winner announced in assembly
- Tuesday 8:45–9:15am – Family art session with Michelle, packed with lots of cheap and creative ideas for the summer holidays. All families welcome!
- Wednesday 15th July, 3:00–5:00pm – Year 6 Leavers Festival
- Friday 18th July – Break the Rules Day (last day of term). Children can pay 50p per rule broken:
- No juice in your water bottle
- No toys (all toys brought in must not contain batteries)
- No coloured hair dye, nail polish, or temporary tattoos
- No trainers
Please note: This is not a non-uniform day – children should still wear school uniform.
- Friday 18th July – School closes at 1:00pm

Free Swimming Lessons for Years 5 and 6
Free Swimming Lessons for Year 5 & 6 Students in Hackney in the summer holidays 2026, which will take place at Britannia Leisure Centre or London Fields Lido. Children must currently be in school year 5 or 6. They must be available to attend at least 80% of lessons in the two weeks at either Britannia Leisure Centre or London Fields Lido Lessons will be 30 minutes long and take place in the mornings. 🎵 Music Lessons at Morningside
Would your child like to learn a musical instrument?
Sing Education offers instrumental lessons during the school day for children of all abilities, from complete beginners to more experienced musicians. Lessons are available in small groups or on a one-to-one basis and are taught by specialist music teachers.
Learning an instrument can help children develop confidence, concentration, creativity and perseverance, as well as being great fun!

OPaL Playground Wishlist
As part of our OPaL (Outdoor Play and Learning) programme, we are continuing to develop our playground to give children richer, more creative and more adventurous play opportunities.
We have created an Amazon Wishlist with items that would really enhance our play offer. If you would like to support, you can do so by purchasing an item from the list and having it sent directly to school.
There is absolutely no expectation to contribute, but we are very grateful for any support. These small additions make a big difference to children’s play experiences every day.

This week, we want to celebrate 1S who have 98.4% attendance . A HUGE congratulations and keep up the excellent work; it has a great impact on learning and progress. You can help your child’s class win the weekly fruit platter by making sure they are at school everyday.
