Summer Fete
We will be hosting our Summer Fête on Friday 12th July from 3.30 – 4.30pm. We would love to see you all there. There will be a tombola, bouncy castle, face painting, book sale, cake stall, food, ice lollies, hair braiding, a raffle and much more.
Fingers crossed that the sun is shining and we can hold the fête in the back playground. On that Friday, we will be dismissing all children from the front playground and asking all parents to exit the school and enter the summer fête via the back gate. There will be a £1 admission fee for all adults. Our kitchen team will be serving some delicious food which will be served inside from the school kitchen.
Tombola Prizes
Thank you to all our families who donated prizes for the tombola. We really appreciate your support and helping to make our summer fair great.
Play at Morningside
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated resources for our playground this week. The children have really enjoyed playing with them and dressing up.
Next week on Friday 12th July, you are invited you to our Family Friday playground special for year R-6. We will open the gates as usual at 8:45am. Please go into class with your child from 8:45-9:00 am where you will see pictures and videos of the playground and children can talk to you about their amazing playtimes. At 9:00 am you will be able to come out into the playground with your children and explore the playground until 9:15 am. We will put our hands up to show you the end of playtime. Please stop with voices off (the children will show you how to do this) – an adult will then direct all the parents and carers out through the main office. We really hope you will be able to join us and that the sun is shining.
Please continue to bring donations into the main office and you might even spot them in the playground next week.
Free swimming lessons for Year 5 and Year 6 children
Hackney Council are offering intensive swimming lessons this summer for Year 5 and Year 6 students who have not yet learned to swim confidently. This initiative is generously funded by Sport England.
The program includes two weeks of intensive swimming lessons at Better Leisure Centres in Hackney pools. To ensure every child has the necessary equipment, the 10×10 funding provides swimming costumes, goggles, and swimming hats, including soul caps for braided hair. Additionally, each participating child will receive a year’s membership to their local pool and free swims for their parents or carers, aiming to foster ongoing swimming confidence.

PTA meeting
The PTA will be holding our first AGM meeting on the 12th of July.
We are seeking parents, carers, and staff who may be interested in running for one of the elected positions. These roles can be shared, allowing you to split the time and responsibilities with someone else.
Please see the link below for more information on the roles available.
We cannot run the PTA without your support.
If you could offer your time in any way to help us raise money for our children it would be greatly appreciated.

Transition Parent Workshops
As we come towards the end of the school year, we begin to think about what will happen next and preparing children for their next phase of education. Some children have big changes such as going to secondary school, starting reception but we recognise that any change and moving to a new class is significant for children. Over the remaining weeks of term, Magdalena from CAMHS will run transition sessions for parents and carers. These sessions will be an opportunity to find out about how to support your child with transitions and ask any questions you may have. Pia, our pastoral manager, will also be in the sessions to help with any questions. The dates and times of the sessions are:
18th June 9-9:45am
2nd July 2:45-3:30pm
16th July 9-9:45am

Outdoor Family Camping
Would you and your family like to try out camping this summer?
Worried you can’t afford to get away? Outdoor Family Camping helps Hackney families enjoy a week-long holiday in the countryside…
For the last ten years, Outdoor People have taken families from Hackney to spend a week under canvas on a working farm in Kent. These camping trips take place in August. You’ll join other families and learn how to pitch a tent, help feed the farm animals, pick fresh vegetables for dinner, toast marshmallows over an open fire and sleep under canvas.
If you’ve never been camping before but are willing to try, contact Outdoor People to find out more.
They will supply all the kit; all you need to bring is a sense of adventure!
As a social enterprise, they have a number of places available to families on very low incomes.

Attendance
Good school attendance is one of the main factors in determining your child’s future opportunities in life. Children who are absent from school regularly do less well in achieving their academic potential and have fewer career choices. Hackney education authority aims for all pupils to attend at least 95% of the school year. An attendance rate of 95% is generally considered good; this allows for children to miss 9.5 days across the school year. If your child’s attendance falls below 95% due to sickness, no further absences will be authorised, unless you provide medical documentation.
Classes of The Week: 4S 97%
The winning class is rewarded with a delicious fruit platter. Help your child’s class win by making sure your child is at school everyday next week.
