Welcome back after the half-term break. It has been lovely to see the children return to school so positively, ready for a busy and exciting half term ahead.
This half term, our school value is Self-Belief. We introduced this in assembly on Monday through the book The Disappearing Story. Together, we explored how believing in ourselves can help us tackle challenges, persevere when things are difficult and have the confidence to share our ideas and talents with others. Self-belief is an important part of helping children to thrive, both in school and beyond, and we look forward to seeing this value in action over the coming weeks.
There has already been lots going on across the school. 6M visited Battersea Park Children’s Zoo, where they had the opportunity to visit the apiary and learn all about bees and beekeeping. The children discovered the important role that bees play in our environment and enjoyed getting a closer look at how a hive works.
Meanwhile, RS enjoyed a visit to Forest School. Although the weather was a little wetter than we might have hoped, the children embraced the experience and had great fun exploring, investigating and learning outdoors.
It was also wonderful to see so many parents and carers at our OPaL Playground Build Morning today. Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to help improve our play spaces. Your support makes a huge difference, and the children are always excited to see the new opportunities for play that these events create.
As always, Morningside is at its best when children, families and staff work together. This week has been a lovely reminder of the strength of our school community and of what it means to be at the Heart of Hackney.

As part of our OPaL (Outdoor Play and Learning) programme, we are continuing to develop our playground to give children richer, more creative and more adventurous play opportunities.
We have created an Amazon Wishlist with items that would really enhance our play offer. If you would like to support, you can do so by purchasing an item from the list and having it sent directly to school.
There is absolutely no expectation to contribute, but we are very grateful for any support. These small additions make a big difference to children’s play experiences every day.

This week, we want to celebrate RM who have 98.9% attendance . A HUGE congratulations and keep up the excellent work; it has a great impact on learning and progress. You can help your child’s class win the weekly fruit platter by making sure they are at school everyday.
Our school target is 97% attendance this year.
