Hot Chocolate Reward
Each half term, Miss Jo invites one child from each year 4, 5 and 6 classes to join her for a hot chocolate treat. To be in the running for the treat, you must make sure that your behaviour has been amazing for the whole half term. The teachers choose one child from each class. Last week, Sabirah 4M, Penelope 4S, Ethan 5M, Jessica 5S, Ansh 6M and Ha 6S were chosen due to always being ready, respectful and safe. Well done.
Eco Swap
A BIG thank you to our sustainability squad for organising the Eco Swap. Thank you to everyone who brought in donations to swap. It was a huge success and it was lovely seeing children and family choosing preloved items to take home.
Express Yourself Day – Friday 9th February
Next week in school, we will be celebrating Children’s Mental Health week. The theme, this year, is ‘your voice matters’. Children will be learning about what makes them unique and special. This theme is about empowering children and young people by equipping them with tools to express themselves and look after their mental health and wellbeing. To end the week, we are asking children to express themselves by wearing something that represents them or something they would like to be in the future.
Chinese New Year workshops
To celebrate Chinese New Year, all classes participated in a dance workshop. The workshops were interactive and used props to complement the different styles of Chinese dance. The children enjoyed learning different dances and performing to their peers.
We wish our families a Happy New Year for 10th February 2024.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
We would like to start a Morningside PTA and need your help. Come along to our first meeting. Please come and get involved. Everyone is welcome.
When: Friday 1st March
Time: 9.15am, straight after Family Friday

Bowling competition
Four children from year 6 were selected to represent Morningside in a bowling competition at Hollywood Bowl. They showcased their bowling skills and determination and came away as the winning school. Congratulations to the team.

Games Consoles
Most games consoles have internet access, which means your child can go online and chat with other players or make in-game purchases. On many consoles, there are parental controls, which allow you to manage which features are available to your child. On some devices, you can:
- turn off chat functions to stop your child from talking to people they don’t know
- restrict games based on age
- turn off in-game purchases, or set a limit.
Check the website for the console your child has for a parents section and details of features. Some games also allow you to change settings for that individual game.
Play at Morningside
Thank you to all the families who donated toys this week for the playground. Next week we are asking for dressing up outfits.
Please bring donations to the front gate where you can get your bingo card stamped.
Week 3(5th Feb): Dressing up outfits – these can be either ‘off the hanger’ costumes or costume hats, tailored jackets/ occasion wear – to fit up to 12 year old children.
Coughs, Colds and Sore Throats
It’s fine to send your child to school with a minor cough, common cold or sore throat. But if they have a fever, keep them off school until the fever goes.
Encourage your child to throw away used tissues and to wash their hands regularly.
Moments matter, attendance counts.
Attendance Class of The Week
Each week, we will share the class, who has the highest attendance. This week, we want to celebrate 2M, 5M and 6M, who all achieved 95.24%. A huge well done and keep up the excellent work; it has a great impact on learning and progress. At the end of the half term, the class with the highest attendance will receive a special reward.
