Our school day is organised to provide maximum time for learning across a balanced curriculum. As an OPaL Platinum school, we ensure children also have rich opportunities for play, which supports their learning, development and wellbeing.
The School Day
We have a soft start to the school day. Children can come into class from 8:45am and take part in reading and maths activities in the classroom. The gates shut at 9:00am.
Assembly
Each day starts with an assembly for Years 1-6, where children learn about the value of the week, discover current events and festivals, and celebrate and share their learning.
Play and Lunchtimes
We are proud to be an OPaL (Outdoor Play and Learning) Platinum school. Our play time and lunchtime staff are trained to support children’s play, and there is a wide range of activities for children to enjoy, such as skipping, reading, drawing, sports and table tennis.
Our Curriculum
We teach discrete subjects throughout the school day, ensuring that each subject maintains its integrity and that children develop deep knowledge and skills in every area of learning.
Our curriculum is carefully sequenced so that children build on their learning year on year. From EYFS through to Year 6, children study English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Art and Design, Design Technology, Computing, Music, PE, PSHE, Religious Education, and Spanish (in KS2).
Each subject is taught in blocks, allowing children to immerse themselves fully in the knowledge and skills being taught, while making meaningful connections across their learning.
