School reports
All school reports were sent home via Arbor today. I had the pleasure of reading some reports and you should all be really proud of your children. They have all had a brilliant year and have made some excellent progress. Please contact the school office if you have any issues viewing your child’s report.
After School Clubs and Breakfast Club
Next week, you will be sent a link to complete a google form indicating which club/s you would like your child to attend during the Autumn Term. We will not be accepting any telephone and email requests. Responses will close on Wednesday 19th July 2023.
Completing the form does NOT guarantee a place at a club. You will be emailed with confirmation, once your clubs are approved.
All clubs must be paid in full by Friday 1st September or your child will not be able to attend.
All outstanding debts from this academic year must be paid before your child can attend clubs in the Autumn Term.

Free School Meals
We are thrilled to share some incredible news with you before the summer holidays begin. We are delighted that the Mayor of London is ensuring all primary school children who attend state schools in London will receive free school meals for the full academic year, starting this September. This means that your child/all children in our school will be entitled to a free nutritious school meal next year.
The Mayor knows families are really struggling with the cost-of-living crisis right now and so has taken the decision to provide funding to expand on the Government’s limited existing Free School Meals offer.
Your child will receive their free school meal automatically but it’s still really important to register them in case they are eligible for extra funding from the Government. This is worth £1,300 per year and helps our school. It’s simple to do and confidential. Further information can be found on https://education.hackney.gov.uk/content/apply-free-school-meals
In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always happy to help with any queries.
Sports Days
Year 4 and 5 took part in their sports days at school this week. The children had a great morning and all had huge smiles on their faces whilst they participated in the different sporting activities.
Coming up next week:
Reception – Monday 17th July, 10:00 – 11:00
Year 6 – Tuesday 18th July, 10:00-11:00
Please dress your children in P.E. kit (a white t-shirt, black, grey or navy shorts or tracksuit bottoms and trainers) on their sports day. Children will be outside, so please ensure they are wearing sun cream and have a water bottle with them.
Brilliant Club
Last week, some of the year 5 students were invited to visit King’s College London to have a graduation ceremony for the end of the Brilliant Club scholar program. We are so proud our children were representing our school at such a prestigious institution. Well done Year 5!
Behaviour reward trip
2M won our first behaviour reward trip. They have displayed impeccable behaviour throughout the term and thoroughly deserved to win the Cable Car trip. They really enjoyed their trip across the River Thames on the cable cars. They loved identifying key landmarks in London. I wonder which class will be next?
Play at Morningside
This week, the children have enjoyed playing with the bubbles and water trays and being creative making their own playground equipment. We have some incredibly imaginative children in this school. Some children in year 2 have shared their favourite things to do in the playground.
‘I love playing on the monkey bars,’ Dylan 2M
‘I enjoy coming down the pole on the climbing equipment,’ Britney 2M
‘My favourite thing to do at lunchtime is ride the scooters,’ Husna 2M
Attendance
Illness
Children can attend school with a mild cold and cough. If your child has asthma, remember they may need their reliever inhaler more often. They should have a spare inhaler and spacer which they can use when they are at school.
Occasionally, coughs can be persistent and last for weeks. Children with bad or long-lasting coughs need to see their GP. No absences will be authorised for these minor illnesses.
Your child should only be kept away from school due to illness if they:
- Have an infectious illness which could spread to other people.
- Need care during school hours that cannot be carried out in school.
- Are so unwell that they are not able to cope with lessons.
Attendance Class of The Week
Each week, we will share the class who has the highest attendance. This week, we want to celebrate Year 1M who had 100% attendance last week. A huge well done and keep up the excellent work; it has a great impact on learning and progress. At the end of the half term, the class with the highest attendance will receive a special reward.
Lost property
We have a collection of lost property growing at school. Most of it is unnamed. Please write your child’s name in any items of clothing they wear to school so we can get lost property back to the owner.
School Uniform
It is expected that children wear the correct school uniform to school each day. Here is a reminder of what they should be wearing. There will be a stall at the summer fete selling cheap uniform.
