We are really pleased to be able to share our latest Ofsted report with you. We are incredibly proud to remain outstanding. The Ofsted inspector spoke with lots of children and they were able to articulate how and what they learn here at Morningside. We could not be prouder.
Below are some sentences from the report:
Pupils are very proud of their school. They enjoy school enormously. This is because the school provides a highly effective curriculum, which gives pupils the knowledge and experiences they need to succeed and achieve well.
Pupils work hard to live by the values of the school. They are incredibly polite and caring towards each other. Pupils’ behaviour is impeccable in lessons and when moving around the school. This is because staff have high expectations of them.
Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are effectively and accurately identified. Staff adapt their teaching and resources well, so that these pupils can access the curriculum successfully. This means that pupils with SEND achieve well.
Leaders have created a very caring, happy environment for both pupils and staff.
This week we celebrated World Mental Health Day. The aim of the day is to raise awareness of mental health and to drive positive change for everyone’s wellbeing. Showing others kindness can have a positive impact on someone’s mental wellbeing. All children carried out a random act of kindness on World Mental Health day. Ask your child what they did for somebody else.
Peneople in 4S said, ‘I loved doing an act of kindness for someone as it put a smile on their face. I also enjoyed it when someone asked me to play. It made me feel happy.’
Elsie in 4S said, ‘I liked that we showed kindness to each other in our class. I made someone a card.’
October is Black History Month. At Morningside we teach Black History through the curriculum all year long, and have a particular in depth focus in October. This year the UK’s theme is ‘Saluting our Sisters’- highlighting the role Black women have played in shaping, inspiring change and building communities in the UK. In assembly we learnt about Olive Morris who was a Black community leader and activist.
We have a lot of lost property in school. Please check the lost property box in the front office if you are missing any items of clothing. Also at the end of the school day any clothing left in the playground will be hanging on railings. Please make sure you write your child’s name on each item of school uniform, so if lost we can return it to your child.
Last Friday afternoon both the girls and boys year 5 and 6 football teams competed against St John & St James. Both teams played incredibly well and showed resilience and determination. Unfortunately both teams narrowly lost. Next time!
We are pleased to announce that our first parents evening this year is on Monday 6th November 2023 from 3.40 – 8pm in your child’s classroom. This is a great opportunity for you to meet your child’s class teacher, hear and see what your child has been learning in class and discuss your child’s next steps.
To sign up for a slot you will need to use Arbor. This can be done through your Arbor App. If you don’t have a login for Arbor please speak with the office.

Harvest Festival is being celebrated throughout the month of October, when farmers and growers give thanks for a successful harvest season. This is an opportunity for us to give to those who are less fortunate.
Harvest season makes a real difference to families by collecting food from local schools and delivering it to those who need it most. We are asking for all parents and carers to donate food items to support this cause.
Which items can be donated?
All items can be dropped at the school office. Thank you for your support.
The City & Hackney Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) want to highlight workshops and courses that are being made available for parents across the borough. All of these events are free, but if you’re interested please sign up quickly before spaces run out.

Each week, we will share the class, who has the highest attendance. This week, we want to celebrate 6M, who achieved 100%. A huge well done and keep up the excellent work; it has a great impact on learning and progress. At the end of the half term, the class with the highest attendance will receive a special reward.
Jumpers and cardigans worn to school must be navy with either the school logo or plain. Please make sure you name each item of clothing.
PE kit, a white t-shirt and navy/black bottoms, must be worn on PE days. Now that it is colder children should wear their school jumper/cardigan on top of their PE kit.
Below are examples from Primark. £7.00 for two jumpers or £4.50 for a cardigan.
