At Morningside, we know that great speakers are made not born. At Morningside Primary School, we know that teaching oracy improves academic outcomes, through developing skills to think critically, reason together and have the vocabulary to express one’s knowledge and understanding.

Our school day is organised to provide maximum time for learning across a balanced curriculum. As an OPaL Platinum school, we ensure children also have rich opportunities for play, which supports their learning, development and wellbeing.

At Morningside, we believe that it is important to reinforce the learning we do in class during the week with practice examples at home.

OPAL is based on the idea that, as well as learning through good teaching, your children also learn when they play. As 20% of their time in school is playtime, we want to make sure that this amount of time (equivalent to 1.4 years of primary school) is as good as possible.
