It has been another busy and enjoyable week at Morningside, with lots of opportunities for children and families to learn, play and create together.
On Monday, we enjoyed our International Day of Play assembly, based on the book Not a Box. The children explored how play encourages creativity, problem-solving and imagination, and how having the confidence to try new things can help develop our school value of Self-Belief. It was wonderful to see so many children making links between play, learning and believing in themselves.
Year 6 enjoyed a visit to the Museum of the Home, where they took part in printing workshops inspired by their art learning. We have some very talented artists in the year group, and we were incredibly impressed by the creativity and skill they demonstrated.
It was also lovely to see so many children wearing blue on Wednesday to raise awareness of diabetes. Thank you to everyone who took part. We will let you know how much was raised in next week’s newsletter.
Children and staff have also been busy preparing for our Morningside in Bloom competition. There has been lots of planting taking place across the school, and the playground is looking fantastic. We are looking forward to seeing everything grow and flourish over the coming weeks.
Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended our events this week. Our Knit and Natter session on Thursday was a great success, and it was wonderful to see so many talented knitters, crocheters and embroiderers sharing their skills and enjoying each other’s company. We would love to welcome even more families to the next session.
We were also thrilled by the number of parents who joined us for Mastering Number in the Classroom today. We hope you enjoyed seeing how children develop number fluency and mathematical confidence through practical activities, discussion and reasoning. Working together with families helps us give children the strongest possible foundations for future learning.
As always, it has been fantastic to see our school community coming together to support children’s learning and wellbeing. We are looking forward to welcoming many of you back for our Science Sharing Event and Sports Days next week. Please see below for further details.

We have created an Amazon Wishlist with items that would really enhance our play offer. If you would like to support, you can do so by purchasing an item from the list and having it sent directly to school.
There is absolutely no expectation to contribute, but we are very grateful for any support. These small additions make a big difference to children’s play experiences every day.

This week, we want to celebrate 4M who have 99% attendance . A HUGE congratulations and keep up the excellent work; it has a great impact on learning and progress. You can help your child’s class win the weekly fruit platter by making sure they are at school everyday.
