A massive well done to year 6 for completing their SATs tests. I am extremely proud of the hard work efforts made by all the year 6 children. You showed resilience and determination to try your hardest throughout the week, which is all we can ask of you. We will all be proud of you no matter the result. You have been absolutely amazing all week and deserve a relaxing weekend.
This week is mental health awareness week. This is an annual event where there is an opportunity to focus on supporting good mental health. One of the most important things we can do to help protect our mental health is regular movement. Our bodies and our minds are connected. Looking after ourselves physically also helps us prevent problems with our mental health.
Movement is a great way to enhance our wellbeing. Even a short burst of 10 minutes’ brisk walking can boost our mood and increase our mental alertness and energy. Movement helps us feel better about our bodies and improve self-esteem. It can also help reduce stress and anxiety and help us to sleep better.
Here is one idea to get you started: Set small, achievable goals
When you’re beginning to move more for your mental health, set yourself small goals. It might be walking to the end of your street. Then you can push yourself a little further each day.
Perhaps keep a movement journal so you can track your progress and how it makes you feel. Your goals are personal to you, and as you make progress you will create positive feelings that can boost your confidence and mood.

Next week is Walk to School Week. The initiative is pupil-led, meaning children will digitally record how they get to school every day. If they travel actively every day next week (walk, cycle, scoot, or bus and walk) they get rewarded with a WOW badge – it’s that easy! The class with the highest recorded amount of children walking to school will be rewarded with a fruit platter and certificate.
As the weather is warming up, please make sure your child comes to school with a drink bottle each day. Please ensure you have applied sun cream before school and children bring in a sun hat to protect themselves whilst in the playground. Please be reminded that all children must continue to wear closed toe shoes to school for health and safety reasons.
