Transition morning
Next Friday, all children will take part in transition activities. They will spend the morning in their new classroom with their new teacher, engaging in activities designed to help the teacher get to know them better.
World of Work Week
This week, all classes have been enjoying World of Work week learning. This has been an opportunity for children about different jobs that people do, perhaps inspiring them for the future. Each year group focused on a different theme:
Nursery: My First Job
Reception: Jobs with Nature
Year 1: Robots & Machines
Year 2: Community Jobs
Year 3: Building Futures
Year 4: Showcase
Year 5: Ethical Business
Year 6: Tech Masters
School reports
All school reports were sent home via Arbor today. I had the pleasure of reading some reports and you should all be really proud of your children. They have all had a brilliant year and have made some excellent progress. Please contact the school office if you have any difficulties viewing your child’s report.
Family Friday
Thank you to all the families who attended our play family Friday. It was lovely seeing the children showing their grown ups the amazing offer they have at play.
Football Competition
Congratulations to both the year 5 and year 6 boys football teams for wining their games against Harrington Hill Primary School. Both teams played skilfully and showed off their football skills. All members of the team displayed excellent sportsmanship towards the other teams. Well done.
Year 6 won 2-1
Year 5 won 5 – 1
After School Clubs
This week a letter was sent home about after school clubs with a link to complete a google form indicating which club/s you would like your child to attend during the Autumn Term. We will not be accepting any telephone and email requests. Responses will close on Friday 19th July 2023.
Completing the form does NOT guarantee a place at a club. You will be emailed with confirmation, once your clubs are approved.
All clubs must be paid in full by Monday 2nd September or your child will not be able to attend.
Breakfast club and Play Centre
A link will be sent out next week to sign up to both the breakfast club and play centre. Completing the form does NOT guarantee a place at a club. You will be emailed with confirmation, once your clubs are approved.
All outstanding debts from this academic year must be paid before your child can attend breakfast club or play centre in the autumn term.
Free swimming lessons for Year 5 and Year 6 children
Hackney Council are offering intensive swimming lessons this summer for Year 5 and Year 6 students who have not yet learned to swim confidently. This initiative is generously funded by Sport England.
The program includes two weeks of intensive swimming lessons at Better Leisure Centres in Hackney pools. To ensure every child has the necessary equipment, the 10×10 funding provides swimming costumes, goggles, and swimming hats, including soul caps for braided hair. Additionally, each participating child will receive a year’s membership to their local pool and free swims for their parents or carers, aiming to foster ongoing swimming confidence.

Transition Parent Workshops
As we come towards the end of the school year, we begin to think about what will happen next and preparing children for their next phase of education. Some children have big changes such as going to secondary school, starting reception but we recognise that any change and moving to a new class is significant for children. Over the remaining weeks of term, Magdalena from CAMHS will run transition sessions for parents and carers. These sessions will be an opportunity to find out about how to support your child with transitions and ask any questions you may have. Pia, our pastoral manager, will also be in the sessions to help with any questions. The dates and times of the sessions are:
16th July 9-9:45am

Attendance
Good school attendance is one of the main factors in determining your child’s future opportunities in life. Children who are absent from school regularly do less well in achieving their academic potential and have fewer career choices. Hackney education authority aims for all pupils to attend at least 95% of the school year. An attendance rate of 95% is generally considered good; this allows for children to miss 9.5 days across the school year. If your child’s attendance falls below 95% due to sickness, no further absences will be authorised, unless you provide medical documentation.
Classes of The Week: 5S 99%
The winning class is rewarded with a delicious fruit platter. Help your child’s class win by making sure your child is at school everyday next week.
